Death to an Opera

The hanged man

and worlds have turned

so I tumble and fly.

Big red lips

and cheeks seeks fresh

thru painted skies and eyes.

Sad face and a pulsing head

Belly lead to light,

presidents and presence meant

and a childlike vultures cry.

death to an opera tonight

and a dance to the fall of it all;

washed off washed off washed off my white

left red and raw.

Death to an opera tonight

and a dance to the fall of it all

I’ll say no more, and leave for the door

to spit the scowl from my jaw.
